Budaun has grown rapidly in last decade, in 2001 Budaun wasn't an UA, it was 27th ranked city of U.P. with a population of 211,258, but this has reached around 370,000, 17th ranked with a record increase of 80%, this is due to inclusion of nearby census town in city with a population of 45,000 which enhanced Budaun from just a city to big Urban Area.
