League Structure

The league operates under a single-tier structure composed of six regional conferences.

Over the course of the regular season, each team plays eight regular season games. The top two teams from each division enter the play-offs, with the winners of the north and south brackets competing in the BUAFL playoff final, which was traditionally held at the South Leeds Stadium, although the 2010 final was held at Sixfields Stadium in Northampton.

In addition, there is a competition called the Challenge Trophy, which was first contested in the 2008-09 season. At the end of the regular season, competed by the teams with the best competitive record outside those who have gone through to the regular play-offs. The winner of these play-off matches play in the final which is held at the Sixfields Stadium.

Famous quotes containing the words league and/or structure:

I am not impressed by the Ivy League establishments. Of course they graduate the best—it’s all they’ll take, leaving to others the problem of educating the country. They will give you an education the way the banks will give you money—provided you can prove to their satisfaction that you don’t need it.
    Peter De Vries (b. 1910)

The structure was designed by an old sea captain who believed that the world would end in a flood. He built a home in the traditional shape of the Ark, inverted, with the roof forming the hull of the proposed vessel. The builder expected that the deluge would cause the house to topple and then reverse itself, floating away on its roof until it should land on some new Ararat.
