Shape
In 2003, Mars registered the shape of the Bounty bar as a trademark in the European Union. This was appealed by Ludwig Schokolade, a German confectionery company. In 2009, the European Court of First Instance in Luxembourg upheld the appeal, stating "The allegedly distinctive characteristics, namely the rounded ends of the bar and the three arrows or chevrons on top of it, cannot be sufficiently distinguished from other shapes commonly used for chocolate bars".

The self-sown, self-begotten shape that gives
Athenian intellect its mastery,

Miracle-bred out of the living stone....”

“The universal moments of child rearing are in fact nothing less than a confrontation with the most basic problems of living in society: a facing through ones children of all the conflicts inherent in human relationships, a clarification of issues that were unresolved in ones own growing up. The experience of child rearing not only can strengthen one as an individual but also presents the opportunity to shape human relationships of the future.”
—Elaine Heffner (20th century)
