Bluffers - Behavior

Behavior

The western hognose snake is primarily diurnal, and makes use of a variety of habitats, including shortgrass prairies, grasslands, and rocky, semi-arid regions. It is typically a docile snake (though known to be highly aggressive in some individuals). If threatened (or perceives a threat), may flatten their necks (much like a cobra), hiss and make mock strikes if harassed, occasionally they even play dead if stressed enough. Although it is more common that they will flatten their head out, some individuals may puff up, and make their throats filled up with air. This is more common with adolescent males.

Famous quotes containing the word behavior:

This whole business of Trade gives me to pause and think, as it constitutes false relations between men; inasmuch as I am prone to count myself relieved of any responsibility to behave well and nobly to that person who I pay with money, whereas if I had not that commodity, I should be put on my good behavior in all companies, and man would be a benefactor to man, as being himself his only certificate that he had a right to those aids and services which each asked of the other.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

No one knows better than children how much they need the authority that protects, that sets the outer limits of behavior with known and prescribed consequences. As one little boy expressed it to his mother, “You care what I do.”
    Leontine Young (20th century)

Anytime we react to behavior in our children that we dislike in ourselves, we need to proceed with extreme caution. The dynamics of everyday family life also have a way of repeating themselves.
    Cathy Rindner Tempelsman (20th century)
