BBC Department Head
When Arthur returns to Earth in the novel So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish he calls his department head to explain why he was absent from work the last six months: "I've gone mad." In the recent radio series the part is played by Geoffrey Perkins, who actually worked alongside Adams on the series at the BBC.
