Menon was born on September 9, 1970 to Madathil PN Balakrishna Pillai and Malathi Amma. He has four brothers: Soman, Suresh, Rajendran and Sreekumar. He is married to the former Malayalam actress Samyuktha Varma, who co-starred with him in Mazha, Madhuranombarakkattu and Meghamalhar. The couple has a son born on 14 September 2006.
