Big Brother 7 (U.S.) - Summary

Summary

On Day 1, the 14 All Stars entered the Big Brother house for the second time. Janelle, Diane, Nakomis and Erika were the females voted in by the viewers, while James, Howie, Kaysar and Jase were the men voted in by the viewers. Alison, Danielle, Mike, Will, George and Marcellas were selected by producers to return to the series. Upon entering, they learned that there would be two Head of Households during the first week. If the two Head of Households didn't agree on the nominations, then they would become the nominees themselves. They then competed in the "Falling Stars" Head of Household competition, in which seven HouseGuests took turns swinging a boulder attached to a rope at the seven HouseGuests standing on pedestals on a giant wheel. A HouseGuest was eliminated upon falling off the pedestal. The last HouseGuest remaining on a pedestal in each of the two heats won the competition. Jase won the first round and Janelle won the second, thus becoming the Co-HoH's for the week. While talking with Alison and George, Danielle devised a plan in which they convinced Jase to disagree with Janelle's nominations, and the house would then vote out Janelle. Alison liked the idea, and began campaigning for Jase to make the move. Word quickly got to Janelle, and the Season Six alliance decided that Alison needed to go. They later pulled Jase into their alliance. On Day 3, Jase and Janelle agreed to nominate Alison and Danielle for eviction.

Following their nominations, both Alison and Danielle attempted to sell each other out to Jase and Janelle. Despite agreeing on the nominations, Jase and Janelle had different opinions on who should be evicted, with Jase wanting Danielle to go and Janelle wanting Alison to be evicted. When picking players, the group learned that a new format would be used when picking players for the competition. Rather than the HoH and Nominees each picking someone, they would each choose from a random draw three other players. The first week featured a spinning wheel, but later weeks would use the technique of pulling balls or chips out of a bag. On Day 5, the HouseGuests competed in the "One Man's Trash Is Another Man's Veto" competition, in which players had to rummage through trash to find Veto medallions. The trash was actually props used in previous seasons for competitions and other uses. Janelle was the winner of the Golden Power of Veto, and ultimately chose not to use it on Day 7. Will and Mike, preferring Danielle to go, began to campaign to get the votes for Alison to stay. They managed to get themselves, Diane and Nakomis to agree to keep Alison. They then began campaigning for Marcellas too keep her, as he had a grudge against Danielle following Big Brother 3. The HouseGuests later learned that in the event of a tie, Janelle would break it as she had won the Power of Veto. Realizing they could not get the votes, Mike and Will chose not to keep Alison. Ultimately, Alison was evicted on Day 11 in an eight to two vote.

Following Alison's eviction, HouseGuests competed in the "Alison Rules" Head of Household competition. A play on the "Majority Rules" used in previous seasons, HouseGuests had to answer questions in agreement with Alison's answers, who was giving host Julie Chen her answers in the studio outside of the house. If a HouseGuest answered the same as Alison they were safe, and if their answer was different than Alison's, they were eliminated. Ultimately, Kaysar became the new Head of Household, something which Alison expressed displeasure with. The following day, HouseGuests split into two teams to compete in the "Slop 'Til You Drop" barn themed food competition. Being tied to another HouseGuest, two members from each team would run across the backyard and try and get fake rats out of a tub of Big Brother Slop. As their hands were tied behind their backs, they could only use their faces to get the rats. The team with the most rats won the competition. The winning team was Diane, Mike, George, Jase, Will, and Erika. On Day 12, Diane and Nakomis were nominated for eviction, partially due to them voting to keep Alison the previous week. In the "Big Brother Golf Classic" Veto competition, HouseGuests had to hit a golf ball across the backyard. Depending on what zone it landed in, they would gain either one, two or three golf balls. If a HouseGuest got seven golf balls they were eliminated. Erika won the competition, and later chose to leave Diane and Nakomis on the block despite Will asking to be nominated instead. On Day 18, Nakomis was evicted in an eight to two vote.

Following Nakomis's eviction, James the "Pay Attention" Head of Household competition, in which prior to the competition the HouseGuests were shown still frame pictures from the first two competitions of the season and told to pay attention. Julie asked multiple-choice questions about the photos. An incorrect answer meant elimination, unless everyone was wrong. James later beat Danielle in a tie-breaker round. The following day, HouseGuests teamed up to compete in the "Balanced Diet" food competition, during which each pair had to maneuver a bowling ball up an incline ramp with holes at the top. If a pair's ball made it to the top of the ramp wins food for the house on that day plus a catered meal. If a ball fell on the way to the top, the HouseGuests ate whatever their ball fell in to that day. The sections were Slop, Veggies & Beer, Bread and Kumquats, Meat & Ice cream and another Slop Spoiler. Four pairs won feasts. Danielle and Will only won vegetables, beer, bread, and kumquats. Marcellas and Janelle only won vegetables and beer. On Day 19, James nominated George and Will for eviction, with George being his main target. On Day 20, HouseGuests competed in the "How Bad Do You Want It?" Power of Veto competition, in which James, George, Will, Mike, Kaysar, and Jase had to complete six tasks on the Big Brother thermometer as each task was revealed the six players hold up a red ball if they refuse or a green ball if they accept. The last remaining player wins the Golden Power of Veto. After accomplishing the unpleasant tasks of eating a bowl of slop, removing and burning his clothing, letting other HouseGuests write on his body, dipping into a bathtub filled with blueberry juice, giving up his chance to play in the veto competition the following week, shaving his head, and deciding to eat slop for sixty days, George won the Golden Power of Veto. On Day 22, George chose to use the Power of Veto on himself and Jase was named his replacement nominee. Both before and after the Veto ceremony, Jase went off on numerous HouseGuests and threw various items in the house. He was not expelled from the house for his actions. On Day 25, Jase was evicted in a unanimous vote.

Following Jase's eviction, Janelle won the "Define & Dismiss", in which the players were quizzed about the quotes and definitions hanging on the walls in the house. HouseGuests would buzz in when they believe they had the answer. A correct answer allowed them to eliminate one HouseGuest from the competition, while an incorrect answer led to their own elimination. In the final round, Janelle beat Marcellas and won her second Head of Household competition. The following day, the HouseGuests competed in the "Food Fight" food competition, which James, Kaysar, Howie, Danielle and Mike won. On Day 26, Janelle nominated Mike and Erika for eviction. Early on Day 27, those playing in the Power of Veto competition were woken up by Big Brother and called to the Diary Room, where they found the competition set up. In the "Torture Test" Power of Veto competition, HouseGuests had to sit in chairs and try and decode a word being displayed to them. The first person to answer correctly could give a punishment to a fellow competitor, which included putting their feet in worms or giving them headphones to distract them. Mike was the winner of the Power of Veto, and afterwards kicked a pair of glass goggles and cut his toe open. He later stated he believed they were plastic goggles. After seeing the medic, he was given stitches in his foot. Janelle came under fire from her alliance when she suggested putting Diane up in Mike's place, and later angered James when he found it she had told Howie to make sure Diane or Erika didn't win the Power of Veto competition. Despite her alliance hoping she would nominate Will, Janelle chose to nominate Diane in Mike's place. Following this, James declared he was done with the Season Six alliance, and formed the "Legion of Doom" alliance with Mike, Will and Danielle. On Day 32, Diane was evicted in a seven to one vote, only receiving the vote of Will to stay.

Following Diane's eviction, HouseGuests began the "Caught In a Web" endurance Head of Household competition, in which they had to lay and hang onto a giant "spider web" suspend in the air. The HouseGuests were tempted with five "eggs" below, in which the first five people to fall would get to pick one to open and keep its contents, though two of the eggs were rotten. Will was the first to fall, and got a rotten egg. Kaysar got the other rotten egg, while James won the right to nullify someone's eviction vote. Marcellas won a pass exempting him from eating slop for one week and Mike won a $10,000 prize. When it came down to Danielle and Erika, Erika let Danielle win the competition after two hours. Due to the endurance Head of Household competition, no food competition was held that week. On Day 33, Danielle nominated Janelle and James for eviction, in an attempt to hide the "Legion of Doom" alliance. The following day, Janelle won the "Grave Mistakes" Power of Veto competition, in which HouseGuests could either gain Veto points by taking punishments or give away Veto points by taking prizes. Danielle was frustrated when Mike, Will and James took prizes and allowed Janelle to win. On Day 36, Janelle removed herself from the block with the Power of Veto and Danielle named Kaysar her replacement nominee. On Day 39, Kaysar was evicted in a five to one vote, as James had chosen to nullify Janelle's vote against him.

Following Kaysar's eviction, HouseGuests competed in the "The Ghost of Big Brother Past" Head of Household competition, in which HouseGuests had to answer questions based upon a seance the group had had earlier in the week. The questions were answered with either true or false, with the last person to answer being eliminated. If a HouseGuest answered incorrectly, they were eliminated instead. Erika won the competition, but numerous HouseGuests, mainly Howie and James, complained that their buzzers were not working properly. Following this, the group learned that they would be re-doing the Head of Household competition, in which they answered questions using the sliding block. Janelle won the new Head of Household competition, making her the reigning HoH for the week. On Day 40, HouseGuests competed in the "Big Brother Bakery" food competition, in which they had to make a breakfast, lunch and dinner meal out of Big Brother Slop. If the set of judges liked it, they would earn food. The judges were later revealed to be Big Brother 2 Runner-Up Nicole Nilson Schaffrich, Big Brother 4 Winner Jun Song, and Big Brother 5 HouseGuest Marvin Latimer. The HouseGuests earned food for the week. On Day 40, Janelle nominated Danielle and Erika for eviction. In the "Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Veto" competition, previous HouseGuests returned to compete against the Veto players in tasks similar to previous Big Brother competitions. April Lewis from Big Brother 6 returned, as did Scott Long from Big Brother 5 and Jack Owens from Big Brother 4. Nicole returned to host the competition, making it her second appearance this season. Ultimately, Danielle was the winner of the Power of Veto. She chose to remove herself from the block on Day 43, and Marcellas was named the replacement nominee. Mike later learned he had won the Coup d'Etat that week, but opted to not use it. Marcellas was evicted on Day 46 in a unanimous vote.

Following Marcellas's eviction, the HouseGuests learned that it would be a Double Eviction Week in the house. Following the announcement, George won the "Prom Night" Head of Household competition. Upon returning inside, he learned he would immediately have to make his nominations; he chose James and Erika. Later that night, the HouseGuests competed in the "Gnome Is Where the Veto Is" Power of Veto competition, in which HouseGuests were padlocked by the foot. They had to use various items from previous competitions to form an object that could get them the keys from the other side of the yard. The first person to unlock their foot and get the Power of Veto would be the winner. James was the eventual winner of the Power of Veto. He later chose to use the Veto on himself, and Howie was named the replacement nominee. On Day 47, Howie was evicted in a three to two vote. Following his eviction, Mike won the "Revenge of the Gnomes" Head of Household competition, in which answering incorrectly caused HouseGuests to be hit in the face with pies by "gnomes" in the backyard. Since he was the Head of Household, Mike was unable to use the Coup d'Etat that week, meaning it would not be used this season. The following day, Mike chose to nominate James and Janelle for eviction. In the "Voo Voo Dolls" Power of Veto competition, players had to find voodoo dolls in the likeness of previously evicted HouseGuests. The last person to bring a doll, or whoever brings an incorrect doll, is eliminated. Janelle was the winner of the competition, and used the Power of Veto on herself. George was named her replacement nominee. On Day 53, James was evicted in a three to one vote.

Following James's eviction, the HouseGuests learned that it would be the second Double Eviction week in a row, the second time that two Double Eviction weeks had occurred in one season. Erika then won the subsequent "But First" Head of Household competition, a play on of the phrase often used by host Julie Chen, which is often mocked online by fans. On Day 54, the HouseGuests competed in the "Birds and the Bees" food competition which resulted in them not having vegetables, fruit, bread, or dairy for the week, but earned George a slop pass, allowing him to eat normal food for the week. They also chose to accept one day on slop in order to receive a trampoline, and accepted another day on slop to have "Christmas in August". Actor Neil Patrick Harris entered the house that week to deliver presents for the "Christmas In August" luxury. On Day 54, Erika nominated Janelle and George for eviction. Janelle won the subsequent "Two Faced" Power of Veto competition, her fourth Power of Veto win and second consecutive PoV win. She chose to use the Power of Veto on herself, and Danielle was named the replacement nominee. On Day 60, Danielle was evicted in a unanimous vote. The HouseGuests then learned that a second HouseGuest would be evicted within the hour, the first time in Big Brother history. Janelle then won the following "Battle of the Sexes" Head of Household competition and immediately nominated Erika and George for eviction. Erika then won the "I'm Knots About You" Veto competition, in which players had to untangle a Veto symbol from a rope. In the process of trying to get his Veto symbol, Will broke his left thumb. Erika used the Power of Veto on herself, and Mike was named the replacement nominee. Moments later, George was evicted in a unanimous vote.

Following the Double Eviction, Mike won the "Big Brother Bowl" Head of Household competition, which dealt with what day significant events happened in the game. He the nominated Erika and Janelle for eviction. On Day 62, Janelle won the "When the Stars Align" Power of Veto competition. This made her fifth Power of Veto win, which is the highest number of Power of Veto wins a HouseGuest has had in a single season. This record was matched the following year in Big Brother 8 by Daniele Donato, who also won five Power of Veto competitions. As of 2012, the two women still hold the record. On Day 64, Janelle and Erika made a deal with one another to make it to the Final Two together after realizing that Mike and Will had played them. On Day 65, Janelle used the Power of Veto on herself, and subsequently cast the sole vote to evict Will. The Final Three then began the first portion of the Final HoH, the "Mount HoH" endurance competition. Within minutes of beginning, however, Mike jumped off and claimed that both women would take him to the Final Two, so he didn't need to win. In the midst of the confusion, Janelle removed her hand from her key, a move that was against the rules. This made Erika the winner of the first round before the live show was even over. Mike then beat Janelle in the second round of the competition, called "Fly By Night". Mike also won a Pontiac Solstice Convertible for winning the competition. On Day 67, Mike beat Erika in the Final Round, and became the final Head of Household of the season. He then cast the sole vote to evict Janelle. On Day 72, Mike was crowned the winner of Big Brother: All Stars in a six to one vote.

Famous quotes containing the word summary:

Product of a myriad various minds and contending tongues, compact of obscure and minute association, a language has its own abundant and often recondite laws, in the habitual and summary recognition of which scholarship consists.
    Walter Pater (1839–1894)

I have simplified my politics into an utter detestation of all existing governments; and, as it is the shortest and most agreeable and summary feeling imaginable, the first moment of an universal republic would convert me into an advocate for single and uncontradicted despotism. The fact is, riches are power, and poverty is slavery all over the earth, and one sort of establishment is no better, nor worse, for a people than another.
    George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)
