Bhattu Kalan is a village in the Fatehabad district of Haryana, India. Its geographical coordinates are 29.42 North, 75.34 East and is about 239 km North-West of Delhi. The total area is 100 km2 and it is 203 meters above sea level.
Bhattu Kalan is a small block in the sub-tehsil of Fatehabad district. There are 28 inhabited villages in this block. Initially, Fatehabad was a major trade center for grains. The grains were exported all over the world from here. The railway line that was constructed from Rewari to Bhatinda made trade from Bhattu Kalan more economical and convenient. This resulted in Fatehabad losing the trade to Bhattu Kalan and making it the center of trade.
Bhattu Kalan is an alluvial plain of Indo-Gangetic basin. There is no permanent river flowing through the town. Only a seasonal river Ghaggar that flows through Ratia and Jakhal is the source of water. The place is majorly irrigated by the Bhakra River and Western Yamuna River.
Haryana Electricity Board is providing connections to the backward and economically weaker sections under a special program and Bhattu Kalan also comes under this program.
Bhattu Kalan is famous for one of the biggest Mandi’s that sells food grains which are distributed to all Indian markets. There are also good schools and colleges (both government and private) too.
