Famous quotes containing the words belief and/or system:

Power-worship blurs political judgement because it leads, almost unavoidably, to the belief that present trends will continue. Whoever is winning at the moment will always seem to be invincible.
    George Orwell (1903–1950)

The professional celebrity, male and female, is the crowning result of the star system of a society that makes a fetish of competition. C. Wright Mills (1916–1962)
