Belgian Shepherd Dog (Malinois) - Health

Health

The average lifespan of the Belgian Malinois is 12–14 years. A number of health problems and disorders are associated with the breed, though the breed's health is generally considered better than that of the German Shepherd. Notable health problems prevalent to the Malinois include cataracts, epilepsy, thyroid disease, progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), hip dysplasia, and pannus, although these problems have been minimized through selective breeding.

Famous quotes containing the word health:

It is not stressful circumstances, as such, that do harm to children. Rather, it is the quality of their interpersonal relationships and their transactions with the wider social and material environment that lead to behavioral, emotional, and physical health problems. If stress matters, it is in terms of how it influences the relationships that are important to the child.
    Felton Earls (20th century)

Mens sana in men’s sauna, in the flush
Of health and toilets, private and corporal glee,
    Anthony Hecht (b. 1923)

Taste is the fundamental quality which sums up all the other qualities. It is the nec plus ultra of the intelligence. Through this alone is genius the supreme health and balance of all the faculties.
Isidore Ducasse, Comte de LautrĂ©amont (1846–1870)
