Personal Life

Mooney was married to the television journalist Jonathan Dimbleby for thirty-five years when they lived on an organic farm. The couple separated in 2004 after his affair with opera singer Susan Chilcott; since 2006 they have been divorced. They have two adult children, Kitty (born 1980), a freelance journalist and charity consultant and Daniel (born 1974), a television producer/director who now has his own business, the Splitscreen Icecream Company. On 8 September 2007, Mooney married Robin Allison-Smith, a freelance photographer, with whom she lives on the outskirts of Bath, Somerset.

Famous quotes containing the words personal life, personal and/or life:

Wherever the State touches the personal life of the infant, the child, the youth, or the aged, helpless, defective in mind, body or moral nature, there the State enters “woman’s peculiar sphere,” her sphere of motherly succor and training, her sphere of sympathetic and self-sacrificing ministration to individual lives.
    Anna Garlin Spencer (1851–1931)

Perspective, as its inventor remarked, is a beautiful thing. What horrors of damp huts, where human beings languish, may not become picturesque through aerial distance! What hymning of cancerous vices may we not languish over as sublimest art in the safe remoteness of a strange language and artificial phrase! Yet we keep a repugnance to rheumatism and other painful effects when presented in our personal experience.
George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)

The literature of the poor, the feelings of the child, the philosophy of the street, the meaning of household life, are the topics of the time. It is a great stride. It is a sign,—is it not? of new vigor, when the extremities are made active, when currents of warm life run into the hands and the feet.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
