Barrow Raiders

Barrow Raiders are an English professional rugby league team from Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, who are coached by former player Darren Holt, with Phil Atkinson as his assistant. Formed in 1875 as Barrow Football Club, the club is the oldest of the current professional sports teams in Cumbria.

Barrow Raiders currently compete in the Co-operative Championship 1, the third tier of European rugby league (behind the Super League and the Co-operative Championship). They were demoted to the Championship One at the end of the 2011 season for a breach of salary cap rules. They had previously won the second tier Co-operative Championship in 2009, and finished fourth in 2010.

Famous quotes containing the word raiders:

This is our fate: eight hundred years’ disaster,
crazily tangled like the Book of Kells:
the dream’s distortion and the land’s division,
the midnight raiders and the prison cells.
