Term of Office

Similar to a Punong Barangay, a Barangay Kagawad is allowed by Republic Act 7160, also known as the Local Government Code of 1991, to have a maximum of three 5-year terms (adjusted from 3 years to 5 years by virtue of Republic Act 8524 amending Section 43 of Republic Act 7160).

Famous quotes containing the words term of, term and/or office:

One man isn’t any better than another, not because they are equal, but because they are intrinsically other, that there is no term of comparison.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)

A radical is one of whom people say “He goes too far.” A conservative, on the other hand, is one who “doesn’t go far enough.” Then there is the reactionary, “one who doesn’t go at all.” All these terms are more or less objectionable, wherefore we have coined the term “progressive.” I should say that a progressive is one who insists upon recognizing new facts as they present themselves—one who adjusts legislation to these new facts.
    Woodrow Wilson (1856–1924)

We often see malefactors, when they are led to execution, put on resolution and a contempt of death which, in truth, is nothing else but fearing to look it in the face—so that this pretended bravery may very truly be said to do the same good office to their mind that the blindfold does to their eyes.
François, Duc De La Rochefoucauld (1613–1680)
