Demographics
The Zande population is spread over three countries, namely South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Central African Republic.
Estimates of Zande speakers reported in SIL Ethnologue (2009) are 730,000 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, 62,000 in the Central African Republic (1996 estimate) and 350,000 in Sudan (1982 estimate), amounting to a total population of just above 1 million.
