Astraeus and Iron Maiden
The heavy metal band Iron Maiden lead singer Bruce Dickinson was an Astraeus Captain flying the Boeing 757 aircraft when not performing as lead singer and was Astraeus's Marketing Director. Dickinson has flew many high-profile flight for Astraeus. For example, on 20 October 2010, he flew the Liverpool FC team to Naples, Italy, for their European Cup match against Napoli.
Iron Maiden commissioned an Astraeus 757 as transport for their 'Somewhere Back in Time' tour in 2008 and nicknamed it Ed Force One, flew by the lead singer Dickson himself. The aircraft was converted into a combi configuration, repainted with an Iron Maiden livery and was used in this scheme until 28 May 2008. The same aircraft (G-OJIB) was used again on the second leg of the Somewhere Back in Time tour in 2009. The same aircraft was meant to be used for The Final Frontier World Tour in 2011, however on February 8, 2011 another 757 200 aircraft (G-STRX) departed Southend with a sightly differing Iron Maiden livery for The Final Frontier World Tour.

Famous quotes containing the words iron and/or maiden:
“Culture is a sham if it is only a sort of Gothic front put on an iron buildinglike Tower Bridgeor a classical front put on a steel framelike the Daily Telegraph building in Fleet Street. Culture, if it is to be a real thing and a holy thing, must be the product of what we actually do for a livingnot something added, like sugar on a pill.”
—Eric Gill (18821940)
“That is the man all tattered and torn
That kissed the maiden all forlorn”
—Mother Goose (fl. 17th18th century. The House That Jack Built (l. 2930)
