Aspergillus Flavus - Hosts

Hosts

Common hosts of A. flavus infection are corn, grains, legumes, and groundnuts. Infection of grains can be present pre-harvest, post-harvest, and/or during storage transit. A. flavus has the potential to infect seedlings of corn, peanuts, cotton, and nut trees by sporulation on injured seeds. There is an increased incidence of A. flavus infection in the presence of insects and any type of stress on the hosts. Stresses include stalk rot, drought, severe leaf damage, and/or un-ideal storage conditions.
