Five Functional Dimensions of APM
According to Gartner research, Application Performance Management includes 5 distinct functional dimensions:
- End-user experience monitoring
- Application runtime architecture discovery and modeling
- User-defined transaction profiling (Also called Business Transaction Management)
- Application component deep-dive monitoring
- Application data analytics
It should be noted that Forrester, Enterprise Management Associates, IdealNet, and many others may cover APM separately from EUE monitoring and perhaps view them as different categories. Gartner does not cover enterprise class EUE and instead refers to it in passing as User Behavior Monitoring.
