American International School of Bamako - Organization

Organization

The School is governed by a 9-member Board of Directors with 7 members elected by the AISB Association. There is an appointed representative of the U.S. Embassy. The school director serves on the Board as a non-voting member. There is also a teacher representative to the board.

Facilities AISB has just recently taken its initial steps toward building a brand new campus on property it has secured next to the Niger River, not far from a new 'third bridge' being built. Committees have finalized basic architectural designs, spaces required, as well as layout of the buildings and faculty housing, all of which will be built on the 12.5-acre (51,000 m2) parcel of land. Anticipated moving date for the school will be as soon as possible prior to the fall of 2010.

Famous quotes containing the word organization:

The Red Cross in its nature, it aims and purposes, and consequently, its methods, is unlike any other organization in the country. It is an organization of physical action, of instantaneous action, at the spur of the moment; it cannot await the ordinary deliberation of organized bodies if it would be of use to suffering humanity, ... [ellipsis in original] it has by its nature a field of its own.
    Clara Barton (1821–1912)

Unless a group of workers know their work is under surveillance, that they are being rated as fairly as human beings, with the fallibility that goes with human judgment, can rate them, and that at least an attempt is made to measure their worth to an organization in relative terms, they are likely to sink back on length of service as the sole reason for retention and promotion.
    Mary Barnett Gilson (1877–?)

To fight oppression, and to work as best we can for a sane organization of society, we do not have to abandon the state of mind of freedom. If we do that we are letting the same thuggery in by the back door that we are fighting off in front of the house.
    John Dos Passos (1896–1970)
