American International School of Bamako - Curriculum

Curriculum

AISB utilizes a fairly typical American International School Curriculum. It relies on carefully chosen topics, textbooks and teaching materials from the United States and around the world. In addition to the regular academic courses, French, ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), technology, music, drama, art and physical education are offered. AISB provides an after-school activities program of sports, games, and handicrafts at all levels. The school has a purpose-built library with over 9,000 volumes for reference work and for supplemental reading. There is a 16-station iMac computer lab in the elementary and a 10-station computer lab in the Upper School. AISB is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. AISB does not usually provide special needs services and is generally unable to accept children who have particular special needs.

Famous quotes containing the word curriculum:

If we focus exclusively on teaching our children to read, write, spell, and count in their first years of life, we turn our homes into extensions of school and turn bringing up a child into an exercise in curriculum development. We should be parents first and teachers of academic skills second.
    Neil Kurshan (20th century)
