LTA Controversy
In April 2004, the Lawn Tennis Association withdrew the bulk of their funding to him because of a perceived lack of commitment. At the Sarajevo challenger, Bogdanovic was forced to withdraw from his quarterfinal match with food poisoning. The next day the LTA insisted that he travelled to Greece to play a futures. Bogdanovic was bed-ridden with a fever and so said that he couldn't and because of that reason the LTA cut his funding. Bogdanovic however responded by employing new coach Mike Raphael and within 3 months reached the final of two Challenger events (Nottingham and Manchester, winning in Manchester) and qualifying for the US Open, his first non-Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament, losing in the first round in five sets.

Famous quotes containing the word controversy:
“And therefore, as when there is a controversy in an account, the parties must by their own accord, set up for right Reason, the Reason of some Arbitrator, or Judge, to whose sentence, they will both stand, or their controversy must either come to blows, or be undecided, for want of a right Reason constituted by Nature; so is it also in all debates of what kind soever.”
—Thomas Hobbes (15791688)
