Afonso Alves Martins Júnior (born 30 January 1981) is a Brazilian footballer who currently plays for Qatari club Al Gharafa as a striker. He enjoyed the most successful period of his career playing at Heerenveen in the Dutch Eredivisie, where his goal-to-game ratio was higher than a goal a game. This precipitated a club record move to English club Middlesbrough, the transfer completed on the last day of the transfer window in January 2008.

Alves has been capped for Brazil on eight occasions.
