The company conducted business before 2005 under the names Benefit Consultants Inc., Cendant, CUC International, and Comp-U-Card. Affinion was formed in July 2005 and is a privately held company controlled by private equity concern, Apollo Management LP. The business's assets were acquired from the Cendant Corporation (which changed its name to Avis Budget Group in August 2006).
