Adelaide University Union - Formal Relationship With The University of Adelaide

Formal Relationship With The University of Adelaide

As of 2008, the AUU relies on the University of Adelaide for the vast majority of its funding. This is a result of a funding agreement with the University.
The ultimate existence of the AUU, and its relationship with the university, is governed by the University of Adelaide Act 1971. This Act of the South Australian Parliament gives the University of Adelaide Council significant power over the Union. The AUU cannot alter its constitution or rules, or charge a membership fee, without the agreement of University Council. Furthermore the AUU is bound to provide University Council with its financial reports and budget for the coming calendar year prior to 1 December.

Famous quotes containing the words formal, relationship and/or university:

The formal Washington dinner party has all the spontaneity of a Japanese imperial funeral.
    Simon Hoggart (b. 1946)

Henry David Thoreau, who never earned much of a living or sustained a relationship with any woman that wasn’t brotherly—who lived mostly under his parents’ roof ... who advocated one day’s work and six days “off” as the weekly round and was considered a bit of a fool in his hometown ... is probably the American writer who tells us best how to live comfortably with our most constant companion, ourselves.
    Edward Hoagland (b. 1932)

The great problem of American life [is] the riddle of authority: the difficulty of finding a way, within a liberal and individualistic social order, of living in harmonious and consecrated submission to something larger than oneself.... A yearning for self-transcendence and submission to authority [is] as deeply rooted as the lure of individual liberation.
Wilfred M. McClay, educator, author. The Masterless: Self and Society in Modern America, p. 4, University of North Carolina Press (1994)
