For sports these range from more traditional sports like Rugby, Football & Hockey to American Football, Cheerleading and Ultimate Frisbee as well as country based sports such as clay pigeon shooting and horse riding. The societies range from more national movements such as People & Planet or Amnesty International (called AberAmnesty in this case) to TamSoc (Tarot and Meditation) or Exploding Fish (an improvisation society) A full list can be found on the website. Most people will join these groups at the annual freshers fairs held in the first week of term usually in late September.

Famous quotes containing the words sports and/or societies:
“In the end, I think you really only get as far as youre allowed to get.”
—Gayle Gardner, U.S. sports reporter. As quoted in Sports Illustrated, p. 87 (June 17, 1991)
“The great end of all human industry is the attainment of happiness. For this were arts invented, sciences cultivated, laws ordained, and societies modelled, by the most profound wisdom of patriots and legislators. Even the lonely savage, who lies exposed to the inclemency of the elements and the fury of wild beasts, forgets not, for a moment, this grand object of his being.”
—David Hume (17111776)
