Journal
Abby has kept a journal since just before fourth-grade. The novels contain traditional third-person writing intermixed with portions of Abby's journal written in the first person. Since Abby's favorite color is Purple, she writes in Purple ink. In "Everything New Under The Sun", Abby informs her readers how she ran out of her signature purple ink and how that won't affect her love for writing. She adds calendar quotes to almost every entry, even some that she made up. Abby loves to write, especially in her journal and wants to become an author.

Famous quotes containing the word journal:
“How truly does this journal contain my real and undisguised thoughtsI always write it according to the humour I am in, and if a stranger was to think it worth reading, how capriciousinsolent & whimsical I must appear!one moment flighty and half mad,the next sad and melancholy. No matter! Its truth and simplicity are its sole recommendations.”
—Frances Burney (17521840)
“What the Journal posits is not the tragic question, the Madmans question: Who am I?, but the comic question, the Bewildered Mans question: Am I? A comica comedian, thats what the Journal keeper is.”
—Roland Barthes (19151980)
“The obvious parallels between Star Wars and The Wizard of Oz have frequently been noted: in both there is the orphan hero who is raised on a farm by an aunt and uncle and yearns to escape to adventure. Obi-wan Kenobi resembles the Wizard; the loyal, plucky little robot R2D2 is Toto; C3PO is the Tin Man; and Chewbacca is the Cowardly Lion. Darth Vader replaces the Wicked Witch: this is a patriarchy rather than a matriarchy.”
—Andrew Gordon, U.S. educator, critic. The Inescapable Family in American Science Fiction and Fantasy Films, Journal of Popular Film and Television (Summer 1992)
