2002 European Figure Skating Championships - Competition Notes

Competition Notes

The competition was open to skaters from European ISU member nations who had reached the age of 15 before 1 July 2001. The corresponding competition for non-European skaters was the 2002 Four Continents. National associations selected their entries based on their own criteria. Based on the results of the 2001 European Championships, each country was allowed between one and three entries per discipline.

The first compulsory dance was the Ravensburger Waltz and the second was the Blues. Due to the large number of participants, the ladies' and men's qualifying groups were split into groups A and B.

Famous quotes containing the words competition and/or notes:

Knowledge in the form of an informational commodity indispensable to productive power is already, and will continue to be, a major—perhaps the major—stake in the worldwide competition for power. It is conceivable that the nation-states will one day fight for control of information, just as they battled in the past for control over territory, and afterwards for control over access to and exploitation of raw materials and cheap labor.
    Jean François Lyotard (b. 1924)

A little black thing among the snow
Crying “’weep, ‘weep,” in notes of woe!
“Where are thy father & mother? say?”
“They are both gone up to the church to pray.
    William Blake (1757–1827)
