About Yelahanka

Yelahanka is located near the fast developing northern section of Greater Bangalore, about 14 kilometres from downtown Bangalore.

National Highway NH7 passes through Yelahanka and newly constructed NH7 passes through the north eastern fringes of Yelahanka, acting as a bypass road to avoid the Yelahanka suburb. State Highway 9 (Bangalore - Hindupur) passes through Yelahanka bisecting the suburb into Old Town and New Town. Yelahanka has became one of the main business centres of Bangalore City. Yelahanka's business areas are Hospital Main Road and BB road in Yelahanka and in the new town are 16th 'B' Cross Road and Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan Road.

Yelahanka has lakes surrounding it, the prominent ones being Yelahanka Kere and Puttenhalli lake which has officially been declared a bird sanctuary.

After the opening up of New Airport at BIAL, Yelahanka has caught the fancy of real estate developers. This has resulted in large scale construction activities in and around Yelahanka. The suburb which was known for its quiet and leisurely lifestyle has suddenly started buzzing with lots of construction activities, skyrocketing the land and residential apartment pricing.
