Classification
The Yadav are included in the category Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in the Indian states of Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. In the state of Uttar Pradesh the Yadav/Ahir are the only group listed in Part A of a three-part OBC classification system introduced there following an official report of 2001.
