WSJV - News Operation

News Operation

Currently, WSJV produces a total of 22 hours of local newscasts each week (with four hours seen on weekdays and one hour each on Saturdays and Sundays). The station began having competition to its weeknight prime time broadcast on September 5, 2006 after CBS outlet WSBT-TV added its own 10 o'clock show airing weeknights on its second digital subchannel that had just become Independent. On January 19, 2012, WSJV became the fourth television outlet in the market to upgrade local news offerings to high definition. Since March 19, 2012, the WSJV newscast also competes with a nightly 10 o'clock newscast on CW affiliate WCWW-LD that is produced by that station's co-owned ABC affiliate WBND; however, the WCWW newscast airs for only 30 minutes whereas WSJV's newscast airs for one hour.

Famous quotes containing the words news and/or operation:

These men, in teaching us how to die, have at the same time taught us how to live. If this man’s acts and words do not create a revival, it will be the severest possible satire on the acts and words that do. It is the best news that America has ever heard.... How many a man who was lately contemplating suicide has now something to live for!
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

It is critical vision alone which can mitigate the unimpeded operation of the automatic.
    Marshall McLuhan (1911–1980)
