History
Prior to Cox Enterprises buying the station in 1999, the station was WTLN-FM, a contemporary Christian outlet. But after the sale that same year it flipped to Dance Top 40 as "95.3 Party" and became a success in the market with its mix of Dance and Hip-Hop product. But by 2004 they would start phasing Dance product out for more Hip-Hop fare and relaunched itself as POWER 95.3, restoring the rhythmic contemporary in Orlando since the flip of WJHM to urban contemporary in the 1990s (WJHM returned to Rhythmic in 2012)
WPYO is also one of three Top 40 stations in the market competing for listeners in the 12-17 and 18-34 age demo range. WJHM and Mainstream Top 40 WXXL are the other two.
