Wisconsin State Defense Force

The Wisconsin State Defense Force is the currently inactive state defense force of the State of Wisconsin authorized by Wisconsin's Defense Force Act. When the Wisconsin National Guard is called into service of the United States, the adjutant general (who is appointed by the governor) may organize volunteers, which may or may not include active or reserve military personnel.

No mention of the Wisconsin State Defense Force appears on the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs website. Being inactive, there are apparently no members of said force.

Famous quotes containing the words state, defense and/or force:

The state of society is one in which the members have suffered amputation from the trunk, and strut about so many walking monsters,—a good finger, a neck, a stomach, an elbow, but never a man.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

If violence is wrong in America, violence is wrong abroad. If it is wrong to be violent defending black women and black children and black babies and black men, then it is wrong for America to draft us, and make us violent abroad in defense of her. And if it is right for America to draft us, and teach us how to be violent in defense of her, then it is right for you and me to do whatever is necessary to defend our own people right here in this country.
    Malcolm X (1925–1965)

Much is the force of heaven-bred poesy.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
