Winnipeg Is A Frozen Shithole

Winnipeg Is a Frozen Shithole is a 2005 breakcore album by Venetian Snares (whose real name is Aaron Funk), released on Sublight Records.

The album title refers to Funk's home town of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Distorted bass and drum samples are predominant on this album, creating a gabber-like sound. Also frequently heard are vocal samples contemptful of Winnipeg (e.g. a sample of "Die, die, die, Winnipeg!") frequently heard on "Die Winnipeg Die Die Die Fuckers Die" or samples of celebrities from Winnipeg. Samples of Winnipeg musicians Randy Bachman and Crash Test Dummies, director Guy Maddin's The Saddest Music in the World, and CKND newscaster Peter Chura (saying "a Winnipeg wrestling coach was accused of sexually assaulting one of his athletes" on "Winnipeg is Fucking Over") are all present on the album.

On side A of the first record of the two-part vinyl EP release, there are several "hidden" loops before the first song.

"Winnipeg Is Steven Stapleton's Armpit", in both title and style, is a nod to Nurse With Wound's early work.

Famous quotes containing the word frozen:

We all have bad days, of course, a secret that only makes us feel more guilty. But once my friends and I started telling the truth about how far we deviated from perfection, we couldn’t stop. . . . One mother admitted leaving the grocery store without her kids—”I just forgot them. The manager found them in the frozen foods aisle, eating Eskimo Pies.”
