Criticism
Wesley College was male only until 1968, and has consequently been criticised for discrimination against women. In 1962, during a visit to the college, Germaine Greer accepted an invitation from tutor Alan Walker for a meal at the college's High Table and was taunted by students that she was the only woman who had ever dined there. Greer subsequently walked out of the meal to jeers and taunts.

Famous quotes containing the word criticism:
“A tailor can adapt to any medium, be it poetry, be it criticism. As a poet, he can mend, and with the scissors of criticism he can divide.”
—Franz Grillparzer (17911872)
“Parents sometimes feel that if they dont criticize their child, their child will never learn. Criticism doesnt make people want to change; it makes them defensive.”
—Laurence Steinberg (20th century)
“When you overpay small people you frighten them. They know that their merits or activities entitle them to no such sums as they are receiving. As a result their boss soars out of economic into magic significance. He becomes a source of blessings rather than wages. Criticism is sacrilege, doubt is heresy.”
—Ben Hecht (18931964)
