Victoria College of Music, London - Subjects

Subjects

As a result of its broad remit Victoria College of Music offers a range of subjects including all traditional musical disciplines, as well as more unusual ones including contrabassoon, ukulele, self-accompanied singing and mandolin. The board was a pioneer in the examination of electronic organ and still maintains a full syllabus for this instrument, as well as being the first board to offer examinations in electronic keyboard to diploma level. However the activities of the college are not confined to the sphere of music and it is very active in the field of speech and drama, offering a range of examinations in subjects as diverse as Business Speaking, Acting, Bible Reading, Speech, and Drama Production. Many of these fields are available in the full range of examinations, diplomas and medals, again a distinguishing feature of Victoria College. Certain of the diplomas in speech and drama carry credits for Open University study and are also recognised by the Society of Teachers of Speech and Drama.

Famous quotes containing the word subjects:

While the system of holding people in hostage is as old as the oldest war, a fresher note is introduced when a tyrannic state is at war with its own subjects and may hold any citizen in hostage with no law to restrain it.
    Vladimir Nabokov (1899–1977)

Conversation ... is like the table of contents of a dull book.... All the greatest subjects of human thought are proudly displayed in it. Listen to it for three minutes, and you ask yourself which is more striking, the emphasis of the speaker or his shocking ignorance.
    Stendhal [Marie Henri Beyle] (1783–1842)

I have come, Sire, to complain of one of your subjects who has been so audacious as to kick me in the belly.
    Marie Antoinette (1755–1793)
