Famous quotes containing the words vice, president, russian and/or federation:

Only conservatives believe that subversion is still being carried on in the arts and that society is being shaken by it.... Advanced art today is no longer a cause—it contains no moral imperative. There is no virtue in clinging to principles and standards, no vice in selling or in selling out.
    Harold Rosenberg (1906–1978)

A President Roosevelt comes only once in a century. I believe God knew and does know of the need of the world at this moment. I don’t believe President Roosevelt is an accident in time, or that it is an accident that he is President for a third time. I believe that Franklin D. Roosevelt truly is the voice of liberty in the world.
    Lyndon Baines Johnson (1908–1973)

I won the battle the wrong way when our worthy Russian generals were losing it the right way.
    George Bernard Shaw (1856–1950)

Words are so inadequate, and we realize that the hatred must kill itself; so we give our men gladly, unselfishly, proudly, patriotically, since the world chooses to settle its disputes in the old barbarous way.
