Valentina (sauce)

The Salsa Valentina is a brand of pourable hot sauce manufactured by the Salsa Tamazula company of Guadalajara in western Mexico. It is typically sold in large (12.5 oz) and very large (1 Liter or 34 oz) glass bottles, with a flip top cap permanently attached to the bottle (the cap does not unscrew). Valentina comes in two varieties hot and extra hot and the sauce is known mostly for its taste as opposed to its heat. Valentina's ingredients are water, chili peppers, vinegar, salt, spices and sodium benzoate (as a preservative).

The taste can be described as a citrus flavor with a spicy aftertaste. It is often used as a condiment with fresh produce such as cucumbers and many varieties of fruit, such as watermelon, mangoes, oranges, and pineapple, with lemon and salt. Cool, fresh fruit and spicy, tangy, salty flavors are a common combination in Mexican cuisine and snack foods.
