Research
(From 2010 leaflet "UdG: a hub in the Pyrenees-Mediterranean Region")
Research at the UdG is mainly focussed on two strategic lines: (1) water science and management, and (2) tourism and sustainability. Furthermore, the UdG pursues research in a few important research and innovation programmes that have attained a prominent role at the university: scientific research, the dissemination of its results and its ensuing social influence are also focussed on computer simulation and applications, food and agriculture, biomedicine, the quality of life and cultural heritage.
The University of Girona joins its Science and Technology Park and several Catalan and Spanish research institutions in its pursuit of research excellence. For that purpose it has 10 research institutes and academic personnel in 21 departments and 112 research groups (62 in the humanities and social sciences, 50 in science, technology and health fields). Moreover, 20 chairs allow closer interaction with Girona’s environment.

Famous quotes containing the word research:
“... research is never completed ... Around the corner lurks another possibility of interview, another book to read, a courthouse to explore, a document to verify.”
—Catherine Drinker Bowen (18971973)
“The working woman may be quick to see any problems with children as her fault because she isnt as available to them. However, the fact that she is employed is rarely central to the conflict. And overall, studies show, being employed doesnt have negative effects on children; carefully done research consistently makes this clear.”
—Grace Baruch (20th century)
“The research on gender and morality shows that women and men looked at the world through very different moral frameworks. Men tend to think in terms of justice or absolute right and wrong, while women define morality through the filter of how relationships will be affected. Given these basic differences, why would men and women suddenly agree about disciplining children?”
—Ron Taffel (20th century)
