Personal Video Recording System

TrueVisions is now selling the new PVR (Personal-Digital Video Recording) System, similar to TiVo. However, TrueVisions has claimed that the set-top box will not be compatible with future HD channels or programs.

DVRs set top boxes are sold to subscribers. The HD set top boxes are provided as a part of the special HD subscription. In October 2011, TrueVisions began offering a combined TiVo-like DVR and HD descrambler—all in one set-top box.

Famous quotes containing the words personal, video, recording and/or system:

I leave the governor’s office next week, and with it public life ... [which] has been on the whole a pleasant one. But for ten years and over my salaries have not equalled my expenses, and there has been a feeling of responsibility, a lack of independence, and a necessary neglect of my family and personal interests and comfort, which make the prospect of a change comfortable to think of.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

It is among the ranks of school-age children, those six- to twelve-year-olds who once avidly filled their free moments with childhood play, that the greatest change is evident. In the place of traditional, sometimes ancient childhood games that were still popular a generation ago, in the place of fantasy and make- believe play . . . today’s children have substituted television viewing and, most recently, video games.
    Marie Winn (20th century)

I didn’t have to think up so much as a comma or a semicolon; it was all given, straight from the celestial recording room. Weary, I would beg for a break, an intermission, time enough, let’s say, to go to the toilet or take a breath of fresh air on the balcony. Nothing doing!
    Henry Miller (1891–1980)

New York is more now than the sum of its people and buildings. It makes sense only as a mechanical intelligence, a transporter system for the daily absorbing and nightly redeploying of the human multitudes whose services it requires.
    Peter Conrad (b. 1948)
