Tractor Supply Company (often written as "Tractor Supply Co." or "TSC") is a large retail chain of stores that offers a number of products for home improvement, agriculture, lawn and garden maintenance, and livestock, equine and pet care. It is a leading U.S. retailer in its market.
Founded as a mail order tractor parts business in 1938, the first Tractor Supply Co. retail store was founded in 1939 in Minot, North Dakota. TSC is headquartered in Brentwood, Tennessee, a suburb of Nashville.
In 2004, when the company reported revenues of more than US$1.7 billion, Fortune magazine named Tractor Supply to its list of the 100 fastest growing businesses. As of March 18, 2011, the chain has 1000 stores in 38 states.
The company has conducted advertising campaigns featuring the slogan "The Stuff You Need Out Here." Their Mission Statement is " To work hard, have fun and make money by providing legendary service and great products at everyday low prices."
TSC was part of a group that purchased some of the leases of the bankrupt Quality Stores, Inc., which had operated nearly 300 stores in 30 states under the names CT Farm & Country; Country General; Quality Farm & Fleet; County Post; Central Farm and Fleet, and FISCO. TSC was not associated with Quality Stores Inc.
The company also owns Del's Feed and Farm Supply, a farm retail chain in the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii.

Famous quotes containing the words supply and/or company:
“What would we not give for some great poem to read now, which would be in harmony with the scenery, for if men read aright, methinks they would never read anything but poems. No history nor philosophy can supply their place.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“We noticed several other sandy tracts in our voyage; and the course of the Merrimack can be traced from the nearest mountain by its yellow sand-banks, though the river itself is for the most part invisible. Lawsuits, as we hear, have in some cases grown out of these causes. Railroads have been made through certain irritable districts, breaking their sod, and so have set the sand to blowing, till it has converted fertile farms into deserts, and the company has had to pay the damages.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
