Tournament of State Champions

The Tournament of State Champions (TOSC) is an annual Little League Baseball tournament featuring 9 and 10 year-old state champions. The tournament was first held in August 2005 and is played at Mitch Stadium in Ceredo, West Virginia. The ninth annual Tournament of State Champions is scheduled to be held at Mitch Stadium in 2013.

In 2009, the Tournament of State Champions was played in nearby Huntington, West Virginia while Mitch Stadium was the location of the 2009 Little League Softball and Baseball Southeastern Regional Tournaments.

The participating states in the tournament are Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia (Indiana and Kentucky participated in the first four tournaments). Over 1,000 registered 10-year-old teams begin play each June in these eight states.

Famous quotes containing the words state and/or champions:

Science is neither a single tradition, nor the best tradition there is, except for people who have become accustomed to its presence, its benefits and its disadvantages. In a democracy it should be separated from the state just as churches are now separated from the state.
    Paul Feyerabend (1924–1994)

Did all the lets and bars appear
To every just or larger end,
Whence should come the trust and cheer?
Youth must its ignorant impulse lend—
Age finds place in the rear.
All wars are boyish, and are fought by boys,
The champions and enthusiasts of the state:
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)
