Topi - Status and Conservation

Status and Conservation

Although the topi is not widely threatened and remains common, it has been extirpated from many parts of its former range. The West African korrigum has been hit most by these threats as they were extirpated from four of the 12 countries in which they were native. Topi can be found in protected areas such as Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda, Akagera National Park in Rwanda, the Masai Mara in Kenya and the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania.

Famous quotes containing the words status and/or conservation:

A genuine Left doesn’t consider anyone’s suffering irrelevant or titillating; nor does it function as a microcosm of capitalist economy, with men competing for power and status at the top, and women doing all the work at the bottom.... Goodbye to all that.
    Robin Morgan (b. 1941)

The putting into force of laws which shall secure the conservation of our resources, as far as they may be within the jurisdiction of the Federal Government, including the more important work of saving and restoring our forests and the great improvement of waterways, are all proper government functions which must involve large expenditure if properly performed.
    William Howard Taft (1857–1930)
