Tokyo Heliport

Tokyo Heliport (東京へリポート, Tōkyō Heripōto?) is a heliport in Kōtō, Tokyo, Japan, mainly used for chartered flights in the Greater Tokyo Area.

Access to the airport is through Shin-Kiba Station. Approximately 15 companies do business at this heliport. Although there is no scheduled service, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, Tokyo Fire Department, Kawasaki Fire Department and other public agencies use the facility, along with news outfits like All Nippon Helicopters, and similar companies.

Tatsumi Heliport, operating since 1964, took the name Tokyo Heliport in 1971. In the following year, it moved to its present Shin Kiba location. Expansions in 1989 and 1990 brought it to its present state.

Famous quotes containing the word tokyo:

Eclecticism is the degree zero of contemporary general culture: one listens to reggae, watches a western, eats McDonald’s food for lunch and local cuisine for dinner, wears Paris perfume in Tokyo and “retro” clothes in Hong Kong; knowledge is a matter for TV games. It is easy to find a public for eclectic works.
    Jean François Lyotard (b. 1924)
