History

TKO's first release, the Hats Off EP (May 2006) has to date sold over a thousand copies. Their 2007 single, Let's Go (released to help raise awareness for Irish road safety), went top 40 in Ireland. The supporting tour visited venues around Ireland and the band made numerous radio appearances for publicity.

The band has extensive touring experience, having supported influential Irish band The Frames in Vicar Street, and have also supported Duke Special, Mundy, Martha Wainwright, The Wailers, Damien Dempsey, The Undertones, Mercury Rev and many other established acts.

The band came to public attention in 2007 with over 80 shows played, a live album Act One, Scene One released and the aptly titled thirteen-date 'Tour For The Sake Of Touring' tour successfully undertaken. They received much positive media attention from many publications including Metro, Northside People, The Star, The Irish Times and Hotpress.

A TV appearance on Dublin's City Channel and a very well viewed performance on webby award nominee website Balcony TV were also recorded during this time. In 2011, they released their new "Keystone EP" to much anticipation. They appeared on national television in Ireland on the POP 4 show on TG4, playing two tracks and an interview. They also had write ups in The Star, Hotpress, Daily Mirror and many other publications.

Hotpress have said that TKO are "One of the best live bands in the country"

Famous quotes containing the word history:

Both place and time were changed, and I dwelt nearer to those parts of the universe and to those eras in history which had most attracted me.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Hence poetry is something more philosophic and of graver import than history, since its statements are rather of the nature of universals, whereas those of history are singulars.
    Aristotle (384–322 B.C.)

We aspire to be something more than stupid and timid chattels, pretending to read history and our Bibles, but desecrating every house and every day we breathe in.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
