Lasting Impact of Mining
The predominant industry in Timmins has left a lasting impact on the environment around the city. Mine waste rock and mill tailing have been dumped in various locations across the city. Some of these dump sites have seen relatively successful attempts at reclamation while others are still barren after decades of being left fallow. Timmins is also home to Goldcorp's "Dome Super Pit."
