    • R.K.L. singer Jason Sears died on January 31 due to complications while undergoing a detox treatment involving ibogaine in Tijuana, Mexico. He died only eight days after his 38th birthday.
    • Glue Gun reunites and their singer Bob Oedy would become the remaining original member of the band.
    • Colin Brunton starts shooting The Last Pogo Jumps Again, a history of Toronto/Hamilton/London, Ontario punk rock circa 1976 - 1978, featuring clips from his 1978 punk rock documentary The Last Pogo.
    • Gorilla Biscuits reunite for a couple shows after a 15 year hiatus.
    • CBGB's closes its doors on October 31.
    • On November 3 Brett Reed left Rancid for unknown reasons and was replaced by Branden Steineckert.
