    • In April, a year after the lawsuit with Archie Comics, Jughead's Revenge officially calls it quits.
    • After seven years on major label Atlantic Records, Bad Religion returns to their former indie label Epitaph Records and their original guitarist Brett Gurewitz rejoins the band. At the same time, longtime drummer Bobby Schayer leaves Bad Religion and is replaced by former Suicidal Tendencies drummer Brooks Wackerman.
    • The UK's Bus Station Loonies create a new world record, playing 25 separate concerts in 12 hours. The event raises funds to buy equipment for music therapy at a special school.
    • Jism, frontman of Ism, is sentenced to 5–10 years in a New York State Prison.
    • Ramones frontman Joey Ramone dies on April 15 at 49 of lymphoma.
    • Green Day and Blink-182 team up to play in The Pop Disaster tour.
    • The Adolescents reunite for the second time.
    • At the Drive-In disbands to form The Mars Volta and Sparta
