    • With the release of Green Day's Dookie, The Offspring's Smash, Bad Religion's Stranger Than Fiction, NOFX's Punk in Drublic, and Rancid's Let's Go, punk rock goes mainstream, and 1994 becomes one of the biggest years for punk rock artists in terms of album sales.
    • Kurt Cobain is found dead in his home on April 8, 1994, Police rule it a suicide.
    • After Kurt Cobain's death MTV Unplugged in New York is released as a CD
    • During the Stranger Than Fiction tour, Brett Gurewitz leaves Bad Religion to concentrate on the fast growing Epitaph Records. Former Minor Threat/Dag Nasty guitarist Brian Baker replaces him.
    • Bad Brains reunite with original members H.R. and Earl Hudson.
    • The Circle Jerks reunite to record a new album for Mercury Records.
    • Glü Gun changes their name to Glue Gun after releasing their first album.
    • Green Day perform at Woodstock '94.
    • The Offspring frontman Dexter Holland along with bassist Grek K start Nitro Records
    • Snuff reform.
