• Events
  • Television records a demo tape for Island Records with Brian Eno, but the label decides not to sign the band. Richard Hell leaves the band after recording the tape to form The Heartbreakers with former New York Dolls guitarist Johnny Thunders.
  • Sex Pistols play their first gig at St. Martin's College in November, opening for Bazooka Joe, whose lead singer Stuart Goddard soon changes his name to Adam Ant and forms Adam and the Ants.
  • Ramones release their first single "Blitzkrieg Bop".
