Tim Scott (guitarist) - Professional Guitar Career

Professional Guitar Career

Scott's recording career began in 2003 when he self released his debut album Bald On The Inside, distributing it via Borders Books & Music Stores across the UK.

This allowed him to gain valuable album reviews in the publications: Guitarist (magazine), Guitar Techniques (magazine), and Guitar & Bass Magazine.

During 2004 he promoted the album by performing live in Borders Books & Music Stores throughout the UK which generated enough sales to put it inside their top 200 sellers list on occasion.

July 2004’s edition of Guitarist (magazine) featured 4:AM as the artist track on the cover CD, credited under: “This month’s highlights” in the main index section of the magazine.

The favourable Bald on the Inside U.K. Guitar press reviews opened the opportunity for Tim to work alongside BBC Radio 1 DJ Judge Jules in a one day session at his London studio writing and playing the Flamenco Guitar on the instrumental guitar track "Puesta Del Sol" for Judge Jules debut artist album Proven Worldwide.

20 July 2005 Tim was invited back to the Guitar Institute or (GI), London to lead a Master class on his session guitar work in the dance scene.

Tim’s studio work with Judge Jules led to him being flown out to Ibiza to play live improvised guitar over his backroom Funky House/Dirty Electro DJ set at Judgement Sunday during the BBC Radio 1 weekend in Ibiza on 15 August 2005, and 13 August 2006.,

During 2005 – 2008 Tim has been hired to perform his improvised live Guitar Mashing alongside some of the world’s most successful DJ’s in some of the UK’s and Ibiza’s most well known night clubs including: Ampersand, Manchester 5 June 2005 alongside Jon Fitz, The Bodyrockers, and singer Abigail Bailey all broadcast live on Galaxy Radio; Eden, Ibiza 15 August 2005 and 13 August 2006 alongside Judge Jules during The BBC Radio 1 Weekend;Pacha, London 7 October 2006 alongside the Freemasons and the songstress Katherine Ellis; Syndicate, Blackpool 23 March 2008 alongside Judge Jules;Ministry Of Sound, London 30 May 2008 alongside Judge Jules.

Since early 2005 Tim has been diligently developing ideas for his most recent album Guitar Mashing; his intended concept to bring together cutting edge production techniques with memorable instrumental guitar melodies. This idea was initially inspired by his love of Dance music, his live gigs in Ibiza, and also guitarists: Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Steve Lukather, and Jeff Beck whose music has significantly influenced Tim’s playing from the outset.

Since its initial 26 November 2008 physical release Guitar Mashing, Tim’s second, solo, studio album has received four star reviews in Guitarist magazine and also Guitar Techniques (magazine).

Total Guitar summed up Tim’s sound as: “…breaks boundaries by mashing his guitar mastery (think Vai and Satriani) with chilled Ibiza sounds.” while Guitarist (magazine) described it as: “Although the phrase ‘painting with sound’ may come across as trite and unnecessarily pompous, in the UK guitarist Tim Scott’s case, it’s perfectly accurate.”

Other national and regional magazines/publications that ran similarly favourable Guitar Mashing reviews included: Musician., Guitar & Bass Magazine, CityLife magazine, and the Stockport Express with their article running on the front page of the entertainment section.

Since the release of Guitar Mashing Tim has been concentrating on releasing singles via the internet download providers: iTunes, Amazon, Napster, etc. the first of which was Amy Jane which Total Guitar (magazine) placed at No. 9 in their top 10 recommended tracks to download in their December/Christmas 2009 edition. "Refreshing Instrumental mix from mash-up man whose guitar heart lies in the party isle of Ibiza"

CityLife gave Amy Jane three stars describing it as "made for mash ups, particularly the track’s howling riff and uber-rock power chords."

Sound On Sound gave Amy Jane a favourable review relating it as "Tim’s unique brand of ‘Trance/Rock/Progressive house’." "The production is slick in the extreme, with greater emphasis on ‘real’ instruments than is typical of the trance or house genres. In particular, it’s a neat showcase for Tim’s imaginative and often funky electric guitar playing."

At the end of July Scott took delivery of his very own Jackson Soloist signature guitar described by The Manchester Evening News – “The Hazel Grove musician has finally got his hands on his one-off sparkly pink Custom Shop Jackson Guitar in his signature shade…”

Famous quotes containing the words professional, guitar and/or career:

Smoking ... is downright dangerous. Most people who smoke will eventually contract a fatal disease and die. But they don’t brag about it, do they? Most people who ski, play professional football or drive race cars, will not die—at least not in the act—and yet they are the ones with the glamorous images, the expensive equipment and the mythic proportions. Why this should be I cannot say, unless it is simply that the average American does not know a daredevil when he sees one.
    Fran Lebowitz (b. 1950)

    Swiftly in the nights,
In the porches of Key West,
    Behind the bougainvilleas
    After the guitar is asleep,
    Lasciviously as the wind,
    You come tormenting.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)

The 19-year-old Diana ... decided to make her career that of wife. Today that can be a very, very iffy line of work.... And what sometimes happens to the women who pursue it is the best argument imaginable for teaching girls that they should always be able to take care of themselves.
