Famous quotes containing the words thomas and/or davis:

Deep with the first dead lies London’s daughter,
    Robed in the long friends,
The grains beyond age, the dark veins of her mother,
    Secret by the unmourning water
    Of the riding Thames.
After the first death, there is no other.
    —Dylan Thomas (1914–1953)

... men need women more than women need men; and so, aware of this fact, man has sought to keep woman dependent upon him economically as the only method open to him of making himself necessary to her.
    —Elizabeth Gould Davis (b. 1910)
